Softball Sweeps Against MSU West Plains

Softball hosted MSU West Plains on Thursday, April 9th, for a doubleheader region matchup. The Cougars swept, winning game one 6-4 and game two 5-1. 

In game one, the Cougars trailed by four runs in the top of the fourth inning, before making an impressive comeback to win. Two inside the park home runs, one by Alayna Johnson in the fourth and one by Lorelei Johnson in the fifth; each scored two runs to tie the game 4-4. In the sixth inning, is when the Cougars secured the win with a double by Reese Elliot and a sacrifice fly by Nevaeh Carter, each scoring one run.  

Game two had a slow start with only one run scored, by West Plains, until the fifth inning when the Cougars took the lead. Zoey Robinson scored on a single by Morgan Thomas, and a single by Hannah Cantrell allowed Morgan Thomas to get back to the plate, to make the score 2-1. In the bottom of the sixth, the Cougars really pulled ahead, scoring three more runs. A single by Ella Lause, a double by Chloe Staffen, and a triple by Lorelei Johnson accounted for a run each, making the score 5-1 to win.   

The Lady Cougs will travel to Neosho, MO, on Saturday, April 18th, for another region matchup against Crowder College.
