After a week of rain and cancelled games, the SCC Softball team returned to face the Lewis and Clark Trailblazers in a doubleheader at Progress Sports Complex in Sainte Genevieve, MO. The two teams met once already this season, in SCC's season opener at the Midwest Clash Softball Tournament on February 19th. The Lady Cougars beat the Trailblazers 9-1 in the initial meet up.
In game one on Tuesday, both teams battled for the win early, until the Cougars took control in the top of the sixth, where the women scored 5 runs in 4 hits. The Cougars won game one 13-5. St. Charles had 13 hits in the game. Lorelei Johnson hit a home run and drove in six runs in three hits. Isbell Priddy, Maddy Seifert, and Morgan Thomas each collected multiple hits for the SCC Cougars.
With the initial win of game one, the Cougars started with momentum, scoring seven runs in the first two innings of game two. Chloe Staffen led with three hits in three at bats in the game. Nevaeh Carter and Ella Lause each collected multiple hits for the SCC Cougars, as well. Maci Knowles started as pitcher in game two, pitching four innings, allowing only four hits and two runs. Yasmin Sandoval pitched the fifth and final inning of the game. The women won game two 11-2.
Next up, the Cougars will travel to Myrtle Beach, SC, for the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.
