Baseball Series Versus Metropolitan Community College

SCC Baseball welcomed Metropolitan Community College this past weekend for a four-game series at home. Despite several close games, the Cougars were 1-3 for the weekend.

The men had a slow start in game one, losing 1-5, and only managing 4 hits in the game. The run came from a solo home run by Chance Greene

Game two went into extra innings, but the Cougars fell in the end, losing 11-12. Nick Alagna, Kurt Leiber, and Chance Greene all had three hits in the game. Brady Kilker and Leiber both had home runs, and Leiber led in RBIs with three.

Game three was close once again, going into one additional inning. The Cougars and Wolves were tied 1-1, with our run coming from another solo home run from Chance Greene in the bottom of the seventh. Metro managed to get a run in the top of the eighth, putting pressure on the Cougars to score a run. The Cougars got two with a solo home run by Brenan Goering and a double by Kurt Leiber for another one. The Cougars won game three, 3-2.

In the final game of the series, the Cougars fought to make a comeback, but just barely fell short. SCC was first to score in the second inning, but Metro jumped ahead, scoring six in the fourth inning. The Cougars fought back by scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning and two in the seventh, but couldn't quite make up the lead Metro set. The game ended 7-8. Chance Greene had two hits in two at bats, and Jonathon Frey had two hits in his three at bats. Frey led in RBIs with three.

The Cougars travel to Kansas City Kansas Community College today for their next game.
